From Asia to America
From Europe to Africa
From the Mainland to the Islands of Antarctica
Both “developed” and “undeveloped”
All stood still for a moment.
The political conferences and rallies
The economic summits and conventions
The religious processions and celebrations
The sport competitions and music festivals
All stood still for a moment
The pleasure of travels and leisure
The birthday parties at the clubs
The friends lunch time at the restaurant
The evening swim and wine at the pool
All stood still for a moment.
Students at colleges and universities
Technocrats and their industries
Researchers and professors
Pilots and the unskilled labourers
All stood still for a moment.
Perhaps the world needed a reset
A reboot and restore factory settings
To remind it of the things that matters
Humanity, family, and prayer
Something many have forgotten.
Yes, the world stood still
But humanity did not
Family and prayer did not
Human charity and fraternity
Appears to be the essence of life.
Everyone looked out for his own
And for all, since we are all connected
We became concerned about each other’s well being
“Stay safe” became a famous greeting
Health gain back its pre-eminence.
While the health workers kept working
Many others kept praying for God´s intervention
The priests were constant at their Masses
All hoping for an end to the Pandemic
Humanity became united once again.
Well, sooner or later
Life with its activities will return
The world rebooted and rested
Hoping that we would have learnt
To treat essentials as such.
With the family life reinvigorated
Prayer life enhanced
Charity and fraternity deepened
New talents learnt; old ones revived
We are all refreshed for another new start.
How incredible, it took a tiny microscopic virus
To make the world stand still for a moment
Thereby, reminding man how weak and fragile he is
That in all his techno-scientific knowledge and ingenuity
In all his political and economic might: he remains mortal and finite.
God alone is IMMORTAL and INFINITE
Simplicity of life and humility
Helps us to acknowledge God
Allowing Him space in our world
And treat other fellows as humans.
